I'm posting on behalf of Joanne Jackson of SongbirdSOS Productions Inc.

Hello birders and bird lovers,
We’ve been working on the SongbirdSOS documentary for a long time now and it will be released for the large screen in Fall 2014. Everyone is welcome to check out our website to find out more about the film and to view the trailer.  (FYI -  It is York U’s Bridget Stutchbury’s voice on it. She is one of the scientists featured in the film) http://www.songbirdsos.com.  More information about participants and featured birds is on the website, too.

We very much want bird-watching enthusiasts to become part of our film community. Please, encourage others  to go to the website and sign up for our newsletter as that will be the best way to find out about screenings and TV broadcasts. Facebook and Twitter links are at the bottom of the website home page.

***We are in editing now but still looking for some additional backyard migrant songbirds  and Neotropical migrant footage. We'd love to connect with anyone who might have good HD quality video. We are looking for three main types of footage.

1.       We are particularly interested in seeing colourful and interesting songbird migrants (passerines) at feeders, singing, perching, on the ground and in bird baths, and it is helpful for us to have more than one shot from the location.  Ie. a sequence of a few shots .. ie. A wide shot showing the location and situations, and then nice tight close-ups of the song birds in action, eating, bathing, preening etc
2.       Nesting.  If anyone has  interesting ‘nesting’ video we'd love to see it.  Looking for nesting in boreal type trees or the grasslands/agriculture areas.   Following a nest over its beginning, laying eggs,  new babies fledglings would be amazing.
3.       Issues birds face: As you know collisions are one of the leading causes of bird deaths and predator cats are another..  so while most of us will not want to have witnessed any window collisions or have cat predation footage ourselves, we are searching for ‘real live incidents’ that have been captured on video to help tell that part of the story, so leads or links to footage of this type are appreciated.

***Note about the footage:  While we are looking for HD broadcast quality, shot with good lenses, we may be able to accept some other video formats too. We will need to preview it for quality.

I'd be happy to answer questions so please do not hesitate to contact me directly at the email or phone number below. We really appreciate your support for this important film.

All the best,  Joanne
