I took an early walk at Earl Bales Park (Bathurst/Sheppard area.) It was nippy, but the birds warmed me up. I saw 5 Common Loons fly over the park. They had pale bellies and that "humped-back" look that loons have in flight. Also, a Caspian Tern was flying over and checking out the stormwater ponds. Both of these were new for the park. Other highlights were: 3 Scarlet Tanagers, 1 Indigo Bunting, 1 Blue-headed Vireo, 1 Swainson's Thrush, 3 Chimney Swifts, 1 E. Wood-Pewee. Warblers included: Yellow, Yellow-rumped, Blackburnian, Black-throated Green, Chestnut-sided, N. Parula, Black-and-White, Bay-breasted.
