I wandered aimlessly through the Baselands this afternoon and eventually came upon a flock of Eastern Bluebirds in the more open area between the Wet Woods and Unwin Ave. At least ten birds--hard to count since they were widely spaced and moving, actively feeding both in the trees and on the ground. Just after seeing them, I flushed an American Woodcock from a stand of Locust trees. Lots of sparrows around--including Swamp and Lincoln's--and an abundance of Yellow-rumped Warblers. Palm was the only other warbler I saw. One male Yellow-bellied Sapsucker with the burgundy-colored throat.
