Last Sunday afternoon around 12:40 pm  as we were just pulling into our driveway in Milton from our Manitoulin trip a Great Blue Heron flew low over our next door neighbours house and landed on top of the house across the street.

While we were unpacking our stuff I told the guy next door about it because he has a fishpond in his backyard that he has running year round.

The next day my wife talked to the neighbours about the Heron. Turns out they checked their fishpond and all of their  Koi were gone :!:  :?

That's funny.
I am surprised to see a pair of them today at Claireville - the stream there is half frozen; yet they are hanging around. I wonder how late one sees them this far north?

Hey, a guy's gotta eat! And if your neighbour sets up a buffet, well....

FYI, a GBH overwintered at Lambton Woods a few years ago.
Some field guides show us to be at the  northern edge of their year-round range and eBird has reports of them being seen in Toronto year-round.
