Too early for kinglets?

Not exactly a backyard event but yesterday I saw a very small bird in my curbside cherry tree but it took off and flew to the woods across the street before I could get a good look. It was smaller than a chickadee and definitely not a goldfinch so I suspect it might have been a kinglet. Assuming they are not here for the winter, is this too early for such a sighting?

I see both golden and ruby crowned in Bestview Park but I've never seen them before mid April. Thanks.

I would say maybe just a tad early but still normal.  They typically start to arrive late March, early April.

Yeah Golden-crowned Kinglets will stay all winter, and are right now starting to arrive for the spring. They are one of the first small songbirds to arrive.
Ruby-crowned will still be a couple weeks away, although they can show up this early in warm years (my record is 28 March)
