At 10:20 this morning I observed an immature male Summer Tanager in Carleton Park, Brampton. Greenish-yellow tanager covered with many red blotches. Very little contrast between wings and body. Observed for about 3 minutes at close range. Since I have never seen a Summer Tanager before I compared what I observed to photos of recent sightings of immature male Summer Tanagers in southern Ontario. It's a match. I observed the bird near the southeast fence line of the park where the trees are not clumped as close together as the rest of the park. The bird flew off after a few minutes. I will try to relocate it.
