visiting Toronto

Hi everyone

I will be back in Toronto twice this week for separate one day visits and hope to continue to fill out my Canada life list (at 288 currently but with some glaring gaps!

I guess migration has dropped to a trickle by now but I see eBird still suggests a few flycatchers are around and shorebirds at TT Park look promising.

One bird that continues to elude me north of "the border" is Carolina Wren. Can anyone direct me to a likely territory please? Bearing in mind I will be in the city centre next to the island ferry dock and will be dependent on the public transport system.

Other birds I'm missing include Eastern Screech Owl, Black-throated Green Warbler, Olive-sided and Acadian Flycatcher but I know they are tough.

I imagine wren hunting and/or visiting the islands on Wednesday then when I'm back on Saturday I will try TT Park for shorebirds

sorry that no one's replied.

warblers won't be in toronto anymore unless they are yellow warblers .
screech owls: hit and miss inside the city and you'd need a car to see them. most ppl don't disclose where they see their screeches.
carolina wren: dunno.
going to the island is a good way to see things.

For Carolina Wren try Rosetta McClain Gardens.  Usually at the west end of park near the fence.  And usually Rosetta is good for many different birds as well.  I have seen Orioles nest there...but yeah it's a bit late for migrants.

Thanks to both of you for posting replies. I tried for wren on the islands to no avail but I found both orioles and an excellent meeting with Merle so it wasn't a wasted trip.

the fall's interesting. Toronto gets LOTS of raptors flying over. warblers are back, but usually tough to ID.
depending when you come, long-eared owls may be back.
bluebirds make an October visit (brief) as well.
