We might not be obsolete just yet...

I tried a photo of the Yellow-crowned Night-Heron from Sam Smith last year and it suggests immature Herring Gull or Cooper's Hawk.

I just tried it and it correctly ID'ed a Wilsons Snipe.
It also correctly ID'ed the photo I took of the Yellow-crowned Night Heron
However I have heard of others trying it and getting mixed results.

I did not get good results.  I tried 2 different birds and it was way off.  I can't see it ever being more than just a gimmick.

I haven't tried it, but I expect it would do well with good photos of easily recognizable species against a background that's not too busy.  That would be great for beginners but not likely much use for difficult IDs.
