We had good looks at a Snowy Egret this morning at Windermere Basin in Hamilton.
For those who haven't seen it yet, the bird seems to be hanging out here.

Is a scope necessary?  Sometimes the views at Windermere can be very distant.

Why would someone with a Nikon P900 need a scope? :)

Lol! Good one Howie!
But seriously folks, I guess it depends on where the bird parks itself. We had reasonable views with bins but a scope would have been better.
At first I didn't even need my bins as the bird came up from behind the berm,  flew within 30yds of the viewing platform before circling and heading out to the back end of the pond. I was too surprised to even get a shot off!

LOL...well the P900 has a good reach, that's true, but I don't expect good pics at max zoom.  The camera does a great job at closer distances.
