While shifting through the photos taken today at Richmond Green, Richmond Hill I noticed this Barn Swallow with a large bare patch in his throat. Not sure what caused this. Apparently the female loses breast feathers during incubation; however, I can't find anything related to this problem. May be the bird is infected with lice or some kind of parasites. Hope it doesn't spread to other swallows. There is a large colony of Barn Swallows at Richmond Green.
