Amazing what DNA can tell you. Birders came from afar for this one, I almost did but never made it down.

That bird struck me as a tricky ID in the first place. It's now in a rehabilitation centre. It would be interesting to know what it looks like in the spring, assuming it survives that long.

Yeah that was a tricky one, wasn't it?  I didn't make it up there either but if I had the time and willingness to drive, I probably would have gone for the Vermillion Flycatcher out west.

Well, yes and no. Turns out both parents were Bullock's but some maternal ancestor was a Baltimore....

I guess it's now up to the OBRC to decide just what to do about this bird.  It's definitely way more Bullock's than it is Baltimore.  Wonderfully interesting study!
