Hello,

I am a new member. I just joined because I wanted to share what I saw last week. This is perhaps not rare to

many, but last week, it was -25 and sunny, north of Bowmanville and I saw out my window a robin, drinking

from a tiny bit of water dripping from your roof vent!! He was all puffed up. I put tossed some pieces of frozen

cherries there but never saw him again… Did he miss the train out of town???

Hi eiua.  Welcome to the forum.  :)

Up until 7 years ago, I didn't know that some Robins stick around for the Winter.  Did a Christmas Bird Count in December at a park in Oakville and there were 250+ ... Wow! The most I've ever seen any time of year. They were flying everywhere - in front of me, behind, beside, through the woods, etc.  It was quite an experience and the sound was spectacular!   8)  Apparently if there is food, water and shelter, they will stick around.   I saw 7 earlier this Winter and 2 on Monday here in NW Mississauga.

Hi Bird Brain,

Thanks for your response, that's incredible! I had no idea they stuck around. I guess it is a sign that our weather is getting too warm overall.

Yikes.I guess then i should continue to put out a bit of fruit etc so they can stay strong. Thanks again, eiua
