After last year's dry spring, I'm happy to report that the Wet Woods really are wet! Compared to average springs the water level yesterday was still below normal, but hopefully tonight's rain will give that a boost. I would strongly advise the use of rubber boots to navigate the deep puddles on some of the main trails. More water, more bugs, more birds! (For anyone new to Toronto birding, the "Wet Woods" is a local term for the base of Tommy Thompson Park.)

There are not a lot of new migrants to report yet, but here's what I've seen in the last week:

Red-winged Blackbirds - the females have just started to arrive, much to the excitement of the very noisy males
Grackles - also very noisy
Cowbirds
Robins
Song Sparrows
Fox Sparrows - listen for their loud scratching amongst the leaves
Pheobes - usually in the drier north field
Creepers
GC Kinglets - dozens!
Chickadees
House Finch
Goldfinch
Woodcock - may induce heart attack  :o
Flicker
Mockingbird
Killdeer
Kestrel
Harrier
