In April this year I saw a Coyote again in Downsview Park. However, it was clear from the photos that she had babies - it might the first time for the Downsview Coyotes, at least first time I have noticed a nursing Coyote there.

Great set of pix....yep....she definitely had herself some pups...good luck to them...pic 2 her ears go back, pic 3 ears back and tail between legs...don't usually see that in urban coyotes encountering people...guessing her pups are triggering the reaction. She is indisputably a coyote...the male you caught really does have a wolf like look to his face and colouration...(he's definitely a coyote just remarking that I can see how people can make a mistake in ID.)

I really enjoy your pix - thanks for posting them.

Another encounter on Oct 5, 2019. The Coyote was about to cross a newly created trail in the park when I took this photo - his attention was not on me. However, I heard from a friend that in the Spring the mother Coyote showed some aggressiveness towards him while a young was beside her - I think that's expected from a protective mom. Despite all the warning sign posted in many places in the park, people are still letting their dogs run free. I had to show one gentleman this photo before he was convinced to leash his tiny Pomeranian.

Another great pic...even with our large coyote population in west grey / southgate, you rarely see them...let alone get to take a pic.

Aren't the dogs supposed to be leashed anyway?

Another sighting of a magnificent Coyote in the park on January 23, 2021. I started this thread in 2016, 5 years later they still show up in the park from time to time despite the increase of people and their dogs - not sure if it is the same that I saw in 2016 or is it one of the offspring. I first saw it when I heard its howling in response to a fire truck or ambulance on Keele Street nearby. At that time it was well hidden in the brushes. So why give the presence away by howling? Anyway she promptly left the area when people took notice of her.

It's easy to see why people think they're so much bigger than they really are with that magnificent coat....great pix...great thread.

I used to live in that area in the early 70's when I was a kid...

Urban wildlife fascinates me....thanks for posting the pix.
