do wood thrushes even come up to the north side of Lake Ontario?

Yes, Wood Thrushes do come up into southern Ontario. I've seen them migrating through the Rattray in Mississauga. It's a bit early for them, though, they're more common in May. This year, though, many things have been a bit early.

Wood Thrushes are quite common in many forests...just take a walk in later spring to summer and listen for their call.
