Yesterday (January 14) friends and I were out on an owling expedition and had great success. Approaching the tiny village of Monck on 10 line heading east, we saw an unusual bird fly across the road. This was about 500 to 700 meters west of the intersection of Wellington Road 16 and Wellington Road 15. It landed in a sparse clump of berry bushes on the south side of 10 line. The glare off the snow from the sun made it basically just a silhouette. Mockingbird was ruled out, American Robin was ruled out, Northern Shrike was ruled out, Eastern Bluebird was ruled out. I am quite sure it was a Townsend's Solitaire, but have no conclusive evidence. Hopefully someone in the area might see it. Monck is on the northwest corner of the Luther Marsh in Wellington County.

That would be a great find.  Looks like the one near Shelburne is still there, according to Ontbirds.  In prowling around that area, did you also check the roads north of Belwood/Belwood Lake up to Hwy 9.  Have not been up there this year yet, but a couple of years ago, stood in one spot and could see at least 4 Snowies.  I think the 25th? sideroad, sixth , seventh line area.  Pretty open and flat.  But glad you had success in finding some.

Yes we checked north and south of highway 9 and found snowies in both areas.
