Yes, one accidental visitor recently showed up in Schomberg Sewage Lagoons and still hanging around in case others want to take a glimpse of it. The debate is still on-going about whether it is an escapee or a vagrant who ended up here due to recent inclement weather in the east coast. The December issue of Ontario Birds, a journal of Ontario Field Ornithologists has an article by Mike Burrell where he gave very good reasoning of accepting these kind of vagrants as legitimate wild bird. For now I'll add it to my life list.

Nice rare one indeed, the OFO is sometimes strict on acceptance of certain species but I guess they have to be on some occasions.

I got lucky seeing it the first day it was reported. I was driving along Hwy 27 when I spotted a lot of birders along the road, so I turned around and stopped. Had no idea it was around.

Nice photo.

I would think observations in migration times are likely wild birds. If they show up in summer, probably not.

Great pics Dinusaur. I saw the Barnacle Goose this morning (March 19) at the sewage lagoons. It then departed with a flock of Canada Geese and I relocated it on 19th Sideroad south of Schomberg. Glad I got to see it.
