You read it right, more than one! I was about to go out for dinner, I saw one at my feeder, by the time I got my camera out, there were two. Then four were fighting. I must be a great feeder hostess!

yes ...red & black ones are males, brown one is a female...and white-crowned sparrow

They migrate south in winter and are heading back up north now, some stay all summer in our area , more common at this time of year, they don't have the white stripes in the fall so go unnoticed alot of time
