While birding in the park early this morning, a gentleman came over to show us and ask us what bird he'd just seen and photographed over by the south fence that run along the top edge of the bluffs (our hawkwatch site).  To my surprise, it was a lovely looking Sora strolling along on the fresh green grass.  We quickly headed back over to where the bird was photographed but sadly it was not seen again after many attempts to relocate it.  Excellent new 'park' bird, wish I had-a seen it.  Congratulations to the gentleman that did, of course.

We did manage to see a Pileated Woodpecker and a young Orchard Oriole amongst a few other goodies.

For those of you who visit this quaint little park - 5 more big old trees fell during last Friday's windstorm, one of them crashing through the centre of the gray pergola that is part of the main fountain/garden feature.  It's a sad sight for sure but before too long 'Rosie' will pick herself up (once again!), dust herself off, and quickly become just as gorgeous as she always is.  She's a real fighter!

Good birding,
Walter :)

Is backyard birding our new normal?
