The photos are of a first winter male Rose-breasted Grosbeak. They can appear very buffy in this plumage. An adult female Black-headed would show a buffy nape and buffy in the rear part of the supercilium. The photos do not show this. It would also have fine breast streaking that would be absent in the center of the breast. The photos show coarse streaking that seem to extend to the centre of the breast. Also, the photos appear to show a hint of the underwing coverts, which are pink, not yellow, as they should be in Black-headed.
