A pair of Slaty-backed Gull showed up recently in a landfill site in Brantford Ontario. I made the trip on Saturday and managed to see both together with a Lesser Black-backed Gull and a few Great Black-backed Gull. Here's a composite photo of a Slaty-backed (on the left) compared to a Great Black-backed Gull (on the right). The white tertial crescent on the Slaty-backed gull is wider than that of the Black-backed together a lot of smudging around its eye and on the head.

December Warblers: The water treatment plant near Swedgewick forest in Oakville creates a warmer micro-climate for bugs and as a result the area gets a few unusual visitors in the winter. And this year was no exception with Orange-crowned warbler (left), a female Hooded Warbler (middle) and a Nashville warbler (to the right) as shwon in the photo below. This is the second time I  have seen an Orage-crowned Warbler, both at the same location. Apparently there's also a Cape May Warbler in that area; however, I missed it during my visit.

Excellent photos and report Dinu. Your presentation, a la carte, allowing us mere mortals
to compare similar-looking birds. A terrific way of highlighting their salient
differences at a glance. I've always enjoyed adjacent pictorial comparisons such
as might be displayed on a composite poster. I have a poster of battleships through history
and everyone stops to examine. Much the same could done with birds and you
definitely have the images to achieve that end, should you be so inclined.
