Hi everyone.  This morning at 9:10am, watched a female Raccoon with very prominent nipples showing walking around in my backyard.   I will be keeping my eyes open for young ones.   :D

The differences between urban and rural raccoons are fascinating....David Suzuki did an episode on raccoons and covered some research that suggested urban raccoons were smarter than rural raccoons...I thought it was a narrow definition...they are much shyer in the country...I have one visiting my feeders in the evening and if I go out on my deck he / she bolts fast and far....I'm guessing generations of interacting with livestock has taught them to fear people whereas urban raccoons see people as a food source....I love their calls    :D and there is no denying the cuteness of baby raccoons....hope you get to watch them grow Joanne.

Always so sad when you find an entire family as roadkill....

Hi Axeman.  I hope so too!

Terrible.  I'm always sad to see any roadkill - raccoons, skunks, squirrels, Opossum - and a Porcupine many years ago at Kingston, Ontario.  Numerous dead deer when driving from Toronto to New York City - also many years ago.
