Our Rose of Sharon's here in Milton Bloomed about two weeks ago and today sitting out front around 8 pm after getting home from the beach a Humming bird made an attempt to feed. Unfortunately I was sitting too close and it made some odd noises and flew off. First one for me this year in Milton.

I haven't been around to observe much thou..

Our Rose of Sharon's in Tiny Township bloomed late last week and Immediately there were Hummingbirds visiting.

Napper:) Water is high again NO beach! Water is warm yet refreshing..

Yep, they are popular with hummingbirds. There's at least one coming regularly to feed. Today I noticed it was feeding on closed flowers at the base of the flower from the outside.

They also liked the honeysuckle earlier in the season.

I guess I'll plant some Rose of Sharons then....I notice my hummingbird feeder was working for a couple of weeks and now...is not getting any hits.

Years ago, I was standing on my deck wearing a bright red cap....I could hear loud buzzing and I looked around for a bumble bee...I couldn't see anything around....the buzzing got louder....almost in my ear...and I felt a forceful series of taps against the side of my cap...on my head...male hummingbird mistook me for a flower...b/c I am truly beautiful....like a delicate flower.

Somehow they like to eat you.

Still have a Hummingbird visiting Rose of Sharon's at the beach this morning.

No shortage of flowers on this bush. Not bad for Aug 31th.

Drove straight to the Beach after work last night around 11 pm.

This morning at 9 am had a Ruby Throat Humming bird female at the bush out front near the lane.
It spent a few minutes feeding and then moved to the back of the house.

It returned and hour later.

My Wife said she has been seeing them often early in the morning.

typical, grabbed camera and all the birds dissapeared.

My lone remaining hummer, probably a first year bird, showed up at sunrise and fed several times before disappearing for the day. Just when I thought she might have left for good I spotted her sitting above the feeder directly in front of my TV room window. It was around 6:30pm but because of the wind and the lousy light I didn't bother with my camera, however, because they don't like to fly at night I'm sure she will show again early tomorrow. The same sequence of events occurred yesterday and I did get some good(?) shots early and late! :)

After closer observation it seems this Hummingbird visits the bush more often than I thought.

I spent an hour on sitting in a chair 20 feet from the Bush and got lots of great images of the Hummingbird's Butt.

Have not seen it today, we had a major storm blow thru here just after supper yesterday. I thought we were gonna lose some trees it was that nasty.

It came thru here just after sunset with lots of rain and wind but no hoped for lightning, glad you reminded me that I gotta go unplug the down spout from the eaves trough! As expected the first hummer showed up again at sunrise and I now have two, presumably fledglings, chasing each other all over the yard! They keep posing for me behind the feeder but it's too windy for picture taking so I hope they stay around for a few more days.
