I decided to take a drive up the Bruce Peninsula towards Tobermory to enjoy the fall colours.  I didn't plan to do any birding but put my camera in the trunk just in case.  One of my planned stops was to go to Devil's monument and along the gravel road towards this area I drove around a corner and there stood a Ruffed Grouse standing on the road.  I came to a slow stop and we starred at each other for a few seconds.  Since he wasn't moving and there were no other cars I thought I'd try to slowly creep out of the car towards the trunk and grab my camera.  I was able to grab this shot before he continued his walk across the road.

A great find and photo. How was the Fall color there? I heard that Algonquin is spectacular.

Thanks.  I would say that Algonquin is better for colours.   I decided to try a new a place this year but would likely do Algonquin next year.

Amazing luck and thankfully knowing what to do when it happens. Haven't been to the Bruce since going fishing years ago. The present rain is likely to mute the colours down here. Algonquin changed much earlier and experienced the best conditions for colour change. Doesn't anyone have any autumn photos for someone that can't go anywhere?
