A Nelson's Sparrow has taken up temporary residence among tall brushes at the northern tip of Peninsula B in Tommy Thompson Park. A friend of mine and I decided to drop by on Saturday and walk to the spot. Needless to say that it was a long walk, seems longer while coming back with heavy camera gears in tow. I usually bring my folding bike to the park, this time I decided to walk with my friend. It was a glorious Fall morning, perfectly suited for walk. After spending time on various trails along the way, we eventually arrived at the location after 10M. The shy bird kept itself well hidden only to pop out for few seconds in random areas in the vegetation. It was a challenge. Managed to get a few id shots - though this is not my first sighting of this species, it is always worth seeing on. A few meters behind it along the shoreline were five Black-bellied Plovers. Compared to the sparrow the plovers were more cooperative. One the way also saw a Ring-billed Gull attacking an American Coot for reasons unknown to us. On the way back I picked up a few wild apples from the tree by the side of the road to quench my thirst and hunger. By the way the demolition of part of Gardiner closed the entrance to Lakeshore from westbound DVP and needed to take a winded detour.
