@Charline -- did you take the wood duck pix? They're on my Grail list....


I love when I get the chance to check out the ducks at my mother's house (Lake Ontario)....just amazing at the ducks that overwinter there.

There are a lot of wood ducks in Toronto. I wonder why they are in the breeding plumages at this time of the year. Or are they? Should the breeding season be in the spring?

High Park is famous for abundance of Wood Ducks year-round. Several years ago, at the dawn of my birding, I remember seeing a group of them in early Spring there, flying into nearby trees, looking for nesting holes. I wasn't aware of their nesting habits then, so it was a surprise and had to read about after coming home.

Yes, in every pond in High Park. Also there is a small pond within walking distance from me, not far from the Brickworks. Although I have never seen any wood ducks in the Brickworks.
