Freezing rain brings ice. Ice adheres to anything cold enough to support it, and this morning that ice welcomed the sunrise while serving as a myriad of distorted lenses to produce a fantasia of tiny points of light, which are hard to resist when one has a camera, despite the deterrent of an accompanying chill.
A lilac tree becomes a festive tree and a chicken-wire frame an icy grid as if on fire, while a tiny twig is festooned by a few frozen drops each liked to a super bright LED.
Some experimentation with manual focus creates imaginary objects that resemble balloons, ping-pong balls, exotic spores, make-believe atomic constructs that can become, in your mind’s eye, anything you want them to be.
