Back at the Beach, Birding from the Deck, Hummingbird

Hey! We arrived back at the beach yesterday prepared to work on some outdoor projects, unfortunately the weather was somewhat unsuitable. It looked beautiful outside but there actually was a windchill. Overnight the temps dropped to 2C. No Frost but the boss still won't plant her veggie garden.
In the early afternoon I spotted my first hummingbird of the year! It zipped past the front of the deck while my wife and son were standing near the Oriole feeder. This is deck repair week.
After supper around 18:20 hrs, I heard a Merlin screaming from the tree tops. I had a look around but could not spot it.  Noisy little Wren's are more abundant this week.

I've had a hummer for over a week now. If I would have hung the feeder I might have seen one earlier. This morning I found the feeder on the ground and the pole supporting it was also ripped from the wooded arbour, with screws pulled right out. That can only be a raccoon's dirty work. I shouldn't have left that screwdriver on the steps yesterday. Those clever buggers have learned how to use a red Robertson.

Humming bird is visiting the Lilac bushes that have finally bloomed with flowers.It did a close flyby today while were working on the deck. It also seems interested in the Oriole feeder. I'll have to put some jelly in it again.
