Walk in the Park - August 31 (Pickering Bluffs)

Boy, was it cold this morning. No bank of clouds blocking the sun. Checked the giant cedars and there was not much there, just juveile Yellow-rumped looking very haggard and juvenile Cape May warblers. Not a bust ... not a blockbuster. I waited a while longer in front of the cedars and then decided to check the woodlot. It was dead quiet. No ovenbird and no thrushes. It was then time to follow the sun. A walk across open field to the north in order to survey the trees and shrubs facing south. Definitely some activity here, but once again, mostly higher up and beyond my lens, even with the Tc attached. Sightings included:

Juvenile Yellow-rumped / juvenile Cape May / American Redstart (adult male and female) / Black & White / juvenile Magnolia (many of them) / juvenile Wilson's / juvenile Blue-gray gnatcatcher / Red-eyed vireo / Gray catbirds / Goldfinches / Cedar waxwings / RT hummingbird.

Not a single Bay-breasted warbler all morning, but I was glad to finally find a Blue-gray gnatcatcher. I saw three of them on the same tree at one point.

You always have the best shots of the redeyed vireo. And you got Wilson's!

I got Wilson's. A fine thing to say. You make it sound like a disease. Actually, it is a disease caused by a genetic abnormality that allows copper to accumulate in the body organs. I don't have Wilson's. It's also "nut a tuma"! Lot's of people have seen Wilson's, at Ashbridges, and at CSSP, but none of them have posted photos. So, yah, ha, ha ... I gut Wilson's.
