I opened the shutter this morning and the feeder was vacant. Then I confirmed that snow was on the way for late Monday well into Tuesday, then I discovered that the kettle was on the fritz again. It was while doing a tango with the reluctant kettle switch that I noticed a sparrow in the tree again, all by its lonesome ... not a dove mind you, definitely a sparrow. Why does the ATS so often sit there in the morning? Hold on, that's not a Tree sparrow. Sure enough, this time it was a FOY White-throated sparrow. The clouds soon started to break up showing some blue sky, nothing to do with the sparrow, but all part of the weather plan to boost one's spirits just before socking in again and dumping some snow. The WTS did not visit the feeder. It just abruptly flew off looking for salvation. So, what's next? FOY American song sparrow? Man, what I would give for a Fox sparrow!

I looked at TWN forecast for the next 5 days - snow, lots more snow then rain+snow.  (Sigh!).  :P

:) Nice!  I haven't seen one of these birds for many years. Used to see them in Meadowvale (NW Mississauga).

WT sparrows have been reported elsewhere but not in numbers. I took a shot of it through double sliding glass doors this morning in dismal light. I didn't want to open even the inside sliding door for fear that the sparrow would take flight. I went out today back to the foot of Beare hill where I saw the owl but there was nothing of interest today. The path is ice covered by a thin veneer of powdery snow so the walking was treacherous. Most of the time I walked through the snow-covered weeds where there was no ice.

Dangerous and scary, so easy to slip and fall, resulting in injury!   :(

Very smart thinking!  Please be careful out there.

Nice photo, cute bird!   :)

A White-throated sparrow has also returned and this time it visited a feeder for quite a long time.
