Egret fishing

I watched an egret fishing at the flood plane of the mouth of the Rouge River. The egret was far enough away from me that I decided to uncouple my 1.4X TC and substitute a 2X TC giving me 600mm of reach despite the drop in image quality. When the egret spots a fish it approaches at a cant with its head tilted so that one eye looks downward onto the water and its neck positioned way off to one side. When it reaches striking distance it slices down into the water at a 45 degree angle, from the side, and then lifts the fish straight up. Therefore, whenever I see its neck extended sideways and its head tipped I know that it has located a fish and I can get ready to shoot.
I've attached a couple of catches below, one a perch and the other looks like a bass.
