This morning I saw several groups of shorebirds flying around, although not at the same time, but never saw where any of them landed. There were a lot of ducks in numbers enough to form rafts. Mixed species of Scaup, Reheaded, Mallards, Gadwall, Am. Widgeon and even a few Canvasback. Watched a flock of Common Goldeneye land on the water. None of these ducks were close enough to photograph in a meaningful way.
Along the stony beach were three Dunlin, which I later saw again on mudflats, and a single very intelligent American Golden plover. The plover was standing on a stone in excellent sunlight and I almost walked into it. When I
did see it I froze and then just sat down for a rather extended tete du tete. I did most of the talking but it did peep once when I mentioned Trump. It was in no hurry to go anywhere. The dunlins were less patient.
