Petticoat Creek Park

I haven't been to Petticoat for a long time and didn't expect to see much in mid-March. The first thing that I heard was the call of red-winged blackbirds, and then both goldfinch and song sparrows. There were no woodpeckers in the small wooden area right at the edge of the bluff, but I did hear red-bellied woodpecker in the wooded area along the creek. A few cardinals also made an appearance but no blue jays. Crows were present in groups of up to thirteen birds. A red-tailed hawk was being harassed by the crows. Most of the snow has melted but there are still some patches here and there. I'll completely rely on my rubber boots for the next six weeks.
