Great find and capture Kin, really love the way the background compliments the brown in the bird.

Thanks everyone.

We observed the Avocet for a while and noticed that while it likes to feed very close to the footbridge - I have much closer shots of it just by standing on the bridge, but it likes to "take a dump" at one particular corner, out of the water. So we walked around to that side while it was feeding and waited.

It came back to this corner quite a few times to dump, preen and rest. So here, it's actually coming in for a washroom break :)

Kin, that's actually how I got the pictures of the Trumpeters at the Bluffs.  They always seem to use one specific side of the lagoon for the preening purposes as opposed to other areas in the vicinity.

Once again, great shot!

I saw this (?) bird on Nov. 23.  Although it was feeding successfully, it was being badly harassed by gulls which jumped on it and pecked it whenever it put its head under water.  Don't think it is going to make it ...

Saw the avocet today and it was feeding well.  No signs of any problems.  It was moving from location to location.  Nice capture Kin.  Ann

JTF hear are Geoff Carpentier.s deracshons from ontbirds

From Hwy 401 east of Toronto, exit at Westney Rd. in Ajax and head
south to Lake Driveway, turn right on this road and follow it as it
winds through a residential area, as you near the lake you will see a
sign for Rotary Park on your right.  Enter here and park, the bird
was visible from the parking lot looking westward.
