This was taken shortly after it was released Saturday at Leslie spit, it drank for awhile before flying off to perch for the evening. This is natural light not flash.

Very neat pic.  A beautiful bird.  I love the bright yellow eyes.

Very neat indeed. Did you get any shots of it drinking?

Great shot, Steven. I wonder if it was the same bird that was released by the Toronto Wildlife Centre  after capturing it in a residential basement in the Broadview Danforth area. It had fallen down a disused chimney. It certainly looks none the worse for wear in your pic.

Beautiful shot Steven!

Here's a picture of the Snowy that we saw out on the Spit the following day.  I would suspect it's the same bird but in your picture the owl appears more mature and not as heavily barred.  Maybe it's just the lighting or angle.

David, last Saturday Global TV showed this owl being released on the 6:00 PM news. I called Global and they referred me to The Toronto Wildlife Centre who explained that they rescued the Snowy from a basement in the Broadview Danforth area where it had apparently fallen down a disused chimney. They had it checked out by a veterinarian and then released it at the Leslie St. Conservation area. Steven, who posted the great photo has reason to believe that it's the same owl.
