I have seen Virginia Opossums at the Toronto Wildlife Centre when I went with my mom and dad.  I have unfortunately observed a dead Virginia Opossum along Bayview Avenue.  I possibly observe Virginia Opossum tracks along the Etobicoke Creek.  I have never seen a live one in the wild and would like to ask a few questions.
Are there any hotspots to look for Virginia Opossums in Etobicoke?
Has anyone seen Virginia Opossums along the Etobicoke Creek?
Has anyone found sightings of Virginia Opossums common along waterways?
Has anyone seen, heard of, or seen evidence of Virginia Opossums in Centennial Park?

They seem to be very localized through South Etobicoke, and I've never seen one in a park.  Some people find them in their backyards regularly, but people few blocks away never see them.

You may find something helpful in the Opossum Sightings thread.

KP ... they seem to enjoy the Meadowvale area of Mississauga for some reason.

My mom and some of my friends see them in their backyards quite frequently!  People walking around Lake Aquitaine comment on seeing them in their backyards quite often as well.

I have seen them often in Mississauga (Port Credit -- near the Adamson - Derry Estate Park...)

They don't seem to friendly and keen to be seen...

Some people walking around the lake out here continue to tell me about seeing large white "rats" in their backyard.

(sigh)

Other people that know the difference tell me about where they are seeing Opossum!

I have seen them often at my parents' home -- they are on lake Ontario close to Cooksville Creek...I know that they have been in the Erindale area (near Credit River) since the mid 80's at least.

Hi Axeman.

My mom lives near Mavis/Rathburn and sees them in her backyard.  People living here by Lake Aquitaine see them all the time in their backyards.  Some friends of mine living near Derry Rd./Ninth Line have a nightly visitor.  Their dog goes completely ballistic every time the Opossum is in their backyard.

Too bad it's such a cloudy, snowy night here - otherwise tonight's Full Wolf Moon at 10:27pm EST would be lighting them up quite nicely!
