I love the sound of male ruffed grouse beating their wings in the spring...but I have also heard them beating in the fall...am I hearing things?

No i dont think so they useally do beat in the fall i herd there beating of the chest is triggered by the seasonal weather so with it being around 7 degrees outside they must think its spring.
