Coyote - 401 and Allen Expressway

While entering the collector lanes of the eastbound 401 from the Northbound Allen Expressway, I spotted a Coyote walking in the grass to the south.  I spotted it today (2009/01/01), mid morning - approximately 10:30am.

The coyote was spotted about 50 feet south of marker B on this google map.

I have seen one there several times since mid-December, ususally early to mid-morning from the southbound Allen to eastbound 401 collectors. If you have an opportunity and its safe to, you can see the tracks/trails in the snow.

A friend of mine overlooks the location and has been sighting it often recently.  Not sure if this is a new development, or old development.  But it's now a relatively common sighting.

Hey Guys

Coyotes in that area is not unusual.  For years they have caused the delay of flights from Downsview airfield.

A few years back the first flight of the Global express was delayed by Coyotes on the runway. A support vehicle was dispatched to move them on..

There is also a family of Foxes living on the base. I saw three at once behind the hangers early morning a few weeks back. I see their tracks in fresh snow all of

the time.

p.s. There are also Kestrel's, Redtail hawks, Rough legs (on occasion), Norther Harriers (2007 fall), Short Eared Owl (winter 2007), Coopers hawk (summer 2007) and snow buntings (winter  2007) and I forgot the large population of Ground hogs.
