Received confirmation today that this Snowy Owl pic taken on Amherst Island south of Kingston, Ontario Canada will appear in the April edition of " Birder's World" magazine. Magazine is sold across Canada and the U.S.A . I am thrilled as this is my first contact regarding putting one of my images in any type of publication so it will be neat to see it when I pick up a copy at my local chapters in April.

Congrats!

It would be interesting to know how your photo was picked for the cover?  Did you submit a photo to them?  If not, where did you have it displayed online for them to find it?

I submitted it for their weekly photo of the week contest. Funny thing it didn't get selected for that but the publisher contacted me first and wanted to see an unedited original. I sent that and then got contacted by the magazine and thats it. I guess sending in pics to various sites etc will sometimes result in contact for publication. Also timing has alot to do with it also as many magazines are planned months in advance so any pics would  need to compliment the planned edition. A snowy owl would only likely be used from say Dec to March etc etc.

Congratulations on being published!  I have been published in mags many times (not for photography, I am a prof artist) and in my experience the publisher always sends a couple of copies once the issue is off the press, so you should probably be on the lookout for those...but also in my experience the newstands in Toronto will have the mag before I get my copies in the mail so you will want to purchase one anyway!  LOL

Beautiful picture...wish we could find a snowy in our area, we have been out every wknd looking but no sightings yet (Perth county)
