WE have a large flock of Pine Siskens at our feeder this year on a daily basis. Red Polls equal 2 but they come every day. Last winter (07-08) was a bumper year for Redpolls where they numbered about 150. Needless to say we go through a lot of bird seed.

Wow, thats a great count of Redpolls. I thought I was doing well with a single in my yard. I had 25 Pine Siskins last week-end, so far only 10 and counting.

This is a picture of part of my flock of 150+ redpolls. Sorry for the poor quality as its taken through a window.

That's a terrific shot, I'm speechless so many of them..... They look like an army in a trench during WWI.

What are they eating to have them all gathered like that?

Nyger seed thats dropped out of the feeders hanging above. There were two feeders ten feet apart both with this many redpolls under it, not to mention the ones sitting in the mature birch trees the feeders are hanging from and on the feeders themselves. They would come everyday. Needless to say we went through a to of seed, but it was worth it.
