This pair was in the yard across the street stuffing themselves. I got a good look (so did my son and his friend) as the pictures indicate.

Wow, that's amazing that they let you and the boys get so close...I've only ever seen them in flocks in the tops of evergreens! Great shots, and it's good to see the kids interested in birds.

Very neat. I didn't know that they'd eat the cones off the ground. They sure did let the kids close!

These shots are wonderful! Love all of them and am stunned with how close the kids were allowed to be. You must have some mighty fine pine cones in that yard of yours!
