Hey!!

I got a real shock today hearing this song..  walking to the store  This is what it sounded like.  http://www.naturesongs.com/pisi4.wav

Boy was it loud.. It must be Spring..  I've  only seen a few and never heard them before.

Spotted a couple of Pine Siskins in the tree a couple of doors down I Heard it, then found it..

Loud aren't they!  You can imagine what my backyard sounded like when I had 30-40 of them sitting in the tree.  I am down to 2 pair now, not sure if they are going to leave or not but they are capable of a good bit of noise just themselves.  They like to sit in the grapevine above the feeders and make that "squealing" sound - at the end of your sound clip - while I am filling up their niger seed.

Love them, and hope the 4 decide to stay for the summer, all the rest plus all the redpolls have been gone for a week now.

There were a couple of Siskins at my feeders today..

I was able to make out their calls amongst  all the Gold Finches.

I tried to record the yard sounds just now, by the time I had my recorder set properly the Siskins moved away.:(

I am trying to find a place to post mp3's that I can link to..anybody got any ideas?

Here in southern Scarborough, we've had at least 1 pair of Pine Siskins at the nyjer feeder since the 2nd week of January.  During the snowy days we've had up to 6 pair looking for food.  As of March 27th, it appears the last pair have finally left and gone back up north.  All I'm left with now is memories!  Siskins, Redpolls, and Crossbills...what a great winter it was!!!

Hurray!, they're still here.  The pair of Siskins just came to the feeder a couple minutes ago while I was sitting having a coffee.  I've noticed that the male is starting to get a bit more yellow on his wings, he's been very drab looking.  So, on it goes.

Cooll..

I still have DE Junco's.. They be signing spring like songs,,,  The Gold finches are almost ripe...

I don't recall every seeing Junco's in April here in Milton..  Meanwhile spring migration is all around us..  More and More Turkey Vultures,, Redwings are every where.

It is really noisy out there early morning..  Robins already singing at 4:45 am daily..
