A male Downy visited my backgarden in west Brampton this morning - only second time this year.
Niger feeder had 6 A. goldfinches on it at 8am.
A few juncos around and a couple of chickadees. Also a couple of house finches and mourning doves.
A pair of cardinals has stuck with us all winter - really nice to see. Now the male is singing "Pretty, pretty, pretty" every morning.
For first time we've had 2 rabbits on the lawn at one time.
I'd like to see a tufted titmouse again, haven't seen one in a long time.

You sound like you have a busy yard Margaret. The downys are looking for their nesting area, we have had our pair return to the yard after hardly seeing them all winter - and they were both inspecting the tree they nested in last year.

I still have 1 lone male junco and 2 pair of pine siskins, starting to wonder if they have decided to stick around for the year...and only one goldfinch back so far.

...and just this afternoon I noticed a small, brownish bird (fits right in with the dead leaves and dry grass colours) rustling around the garden, I think by looking at the tail movement that it is a wren - crossing my fingers that it is still around tomorrow morning and this rain holds off until I can get a picture of it, or even a positive ID.  I had never seen a wren 'til
one stopped in on its way south last fall.
