Good evening!
Today turned out to be quite nice as the sun finally showed.
If you are looking to see the Horned Grebes close up-this is the place. They are almost in their breeding plumage and look amazing.
Also present are Red Necked Grebes who are also giving some close views and are getting into their feathers. Some White Winged Scoters were also around.
If you take the path around the marina that curves to the west you will see these birds.
Also present were Buffleheads, Mallards, American Wigeon, and Gadwalls. The Bufflehead was on the shore which I had never seen before.
There was also a pair of Northern Flickers racing through the shrubs. And a GC Kinglet with a beautiful crest.
We saw our first Cormorant, then we saw three more, and then we looked up and saw 200 fly over. They're back!
Colonel Sam Smith park is south of Kipling and Lakeshore Blvd. Follow Kipling south of Lakeshore and you will find paid parking or free parking closer to the marina.
Cheers,
Bernie
