Good evening

Today Ian Cannell, Margaret Liubavicius and I birded the Toronto Islands to check on the migration progress down there and we were not disappointed at all. Below are some of the birds we found.

100+ Cormorants heading to the Leslie Street Spit nesting sites, 20 Wood Ducks ( 1 flock of 18 overhead ), Canvasbacks, all 3 Mergansers, Black-crowned night-Herons, Cooper's Hawk, A. Coot, 15+ Killdeer, Yellow-bellied Sapsuckers,  N. Flickers, 9 E. Phoebes, Brown Creepers, Winter Wrens ( singing ), Tree Swallows, 50+ Golden-crowned Kinglets, 5 Fox Sparrows ( some singing ), 90+ Song Sparrows, White-throated Sparrows, Field Sparrows and Eastern Meadowlark.

The birds were great but the real high light of the day would be the 2 Opossums that we watched ( up close ) for a few minutes each.
