Two Hawks

I posted at another thread re
the 2 hawks

Well, I have since found the nest
and wonder if someone could answer
my question

The nest is quite near to Cummer Avenue
in a very tall tree, but they are to be
tearing down trees there for the Rehab
Hospital in future
What will happen to the hawks?  also, all this
noise of construction around them

Usually, I see them at night time
around 6 and onwards


If I should not be posting this here

I hope someone will do something about it #_#. It'sreally sad to see trees down....near where I live, they are going to tear a lot of trees dwon, to build some town house!!  remember when we 1st moved there, we see foxes, coyote and all kinds of wildlifes.  Now, it's getting none!

By the way, I will be in that area Tomorrow after 6:00pm. Will try to look for it, Is it right at the rEhab or the retirement resident next to it?

NOT THE nursing home
on Cummer Avenue
cant miss it

now.. go to the seat
for the busstop
sit there
and look up
you will see a nest
they go there
and at about 7 pm

and they fly around in that wooded area on the same side
not the other side

u wil lsee all the hoarding etc

This website gives a good summary of bird protection laws.  It appears hawks are covered by the provincial FWCA law, and so it would be MNR conservation officers who you should notify if you fear a violation is imminent.  I think that an active nest is clearly protected from destruction.  I have no idea if negative effects of nearby construction activity are considered, or if destruction of a nest tree outside of the time period of active use is prohibited.
