Hi everyone,

Here's some Birding I did today:

8:00-10:00- Cootes Paradise Hamilton,Ontario

Directions:Exit Highway 403 at Highway 6 North. Turn right at the first traffic lights, and continue to the next traffic lights. A left turn onto Plains Road West leads to Royal Botanical Gardens Centre, (RBG Centre), and the Hendrie Valley Trails. A right turn onto York Boulevard leads to Old Guelph Road, the Nature Centre, and Cootes Paradise. Follow the signs for the Arboretum/Nature Centre or continue on York Boulevard across the Thomas McQuesten High-Level Bridge. Lookouts on each side of the bridge offer spectacular panoramic views of Cootes Paradise and Hamilton Harbour.

Burlington:

2 American Goldfinches (Flying)
1 Mourning Dove
2 Barn Swallows (Flying)
3 Grackels
36 Turkey Vultures (Flying)

 Backyard Notes:

I have had a extreme decrease in Chickadees at my Backyard feeders. Has anyone els had these problems?

I still haven't spotted any Orioles at my Oriole Feeder.

Last Sunday there were 234 Sparrows at my feeders throughout the day.

I still haven't spotted any American Goldfinches stop at the Feeders since April 12.

1 Possible Cowbird.

2 Purple Finches.

4 Canadian Geese (Flying).

12 Seagulls (Flying)

There is a pair of Mating Cardinals that eat seed that I place on my deck outside.

Almost every night this week between 7:30-8:00PM a Blue Heron flew by.

Wind directions pushed different types of Hawks down from the Escarpment so I could Photograph them. These included: 1 American Kestrel, 1 Coopers Hawk, 1 Possible Red Tailed Hawk, and as usual many Turkey Vultures.

Non-Bird Related: Squirrels continue to eat peanuts in my backyard. 1 Canadian Search and Rescue Helicopter flew by my house on Friday. The pictures unfortunately were from under the Helicopter (I did not get any side views). Today at Cootes Paradise there were many Chipmunks and Squirrels around.

Thanks for reading!

Happy Birding!
