Moorhen, loons, etc. - Lynde Shores

On Saturday, June 6, at Lynde Shores, although a little quiet, I enjoyed a few nice sightings:

5 loons flying overhead, calling
A marsh wren calling and flitting up and down in the reeds
A moorhen and several coots on Cranberry Marsh
A green heron flying over, and a couple of GBH's passing by
Lots of bobolinks
3 ruddy ducks
and about 8 wood ducks

The trumpeter swan was still sitting on her nest, but I couldn't see the eggs when she stood up.

We were on the Hall's Road side on Sunday. Saw the coots with chicks but no moorhen. Also saw the ruddy ducks, pied billed grebe, gadwall, eastern kingbird, many RWBB, cardinals, tree swallows, chickadees, bluejays, GBHs, catbird, robins, goldfinches, song sparrows, and grackles.

I was also at Lynde Shores and checked out Hall's Road.  I saw the moorhen, coots and ruddy ducks and would love to see the wood ducks.  Where did you see them?

I could see them from both the raised platform and the lower platform (not the Hall's road side). From the raised platform, they were off to the bottom right "corner" of the marsh, clustered towards near the reeds. It is possible that they weren't viewable from the Halls Road platform given where they were.

Thanks for the info.  From the lower platform, did you see a swan in the rushes to the left (fairly close)?  It had reddish colouring on the head and down the neck.  I've never noticed this before.  I also saw a couple of ducks in the distance - couldn't get a good look, even with my scope.  They were fairly non-descript colour wise, with a white patch towards the back.  When I was on the higher platform, a very large raccoon came along and scared me off a bit.  It was very quiet out on the paths.
