I've just started using Google Earth (free download) so I am adding in the co-ordinates, easier than a verbal description and hopefully more accurate.

CSSP
Comparing photos from 3rd and today (7th), water level has dropped at least 6" (15cm) or the nest has magically grown (along with the stump). One grebe always on the nest, other one acting the guard (to the dismay of several ring billed gulls, unseen underwater attacks must be unnerving - gull goosed by grebe!!!).

While at the grebe nest, the mute swans came over to investigate me along with a host of 50ish mallards (I stopped counting at 47). The swans seemed to act so much more haughty than elegant, a new side to them. The ducks started fighting just to entertain me (well, I was the only one about).

Managed to get to see underneath the bridge by the marina to watch the barn swallows - just not enough light to get a pic.
Location - N 43 Degree 35'24.50 W 79 degree 30'55.50

Tried a bit further around to get closer to the cormorants and took a pic of some bird food as well (just to diversify)

Few days ago I saw this and couldn't resist the puns (gull eating carrion, carry on/flight/surcharges, read the description) http://www.flickr.com/photos/39167841@N06/3798474293/

Hope there aren't too many numbers.

Your August 3rd shot appears to show 2 eggs.  That's quite encouraging!

Unfortunately, when I visited yesterday evening, both nests were abandoned :(
