Brickworks - anyone else annoyed by it?

I'm wondering if my fiancee and I are the only ones who cannot stand the Brickworks anymore.
its a great birding area, but we are finding the area to be void of any respect for nature.
seems like everyone has their dogs offleash, running around (and the Brickworks refuses to put up reminder signs), kids throwing rocks into all the ponds.

i feel like a grumpy old man for complaining, but even yesterday, i actually got into a verbal fight with a woman who was throwing loaves of bread into a pond (i said nothing about it) and had her dog offleash. her dog walked up to me and smacked its head into my camera. made a VERY polite request that she keep her dog onleash. her reply? "What's your point?!"

we feel that the disrespect to nature that we see makes it too frustrating to properly visit the Brickworks.

am i the only one?

I've never visited the Brickworks before but that's truly unfortunate re: rude woman.  It seems like in modern day, people are disrespecting not only nature but also other people.  I'm noticing that people seem very quick to anger, get their backs up and be argumentative/confrontational.  I try to be nice/polite to everyone but some people really make me wonder what is their problem.

I went for the first time Saturday morning.  I met 3 really nice people, one who shared some incredible photos he had taken of the GBH and another who gave me some photography tips.  As it got later, it got busier because of the market.  I think because the marshes are so close to the market area, people just walk around with their kids.  I find when you are somewhere relatively public, non-birders don't appreciate  that they might scare off the birds.  I was taking a picture of a butterfly and a lady let her young daughter walk right up to me.  Butterfly took off - of course.  Serenity now!

Part of the brickworks is an off leash dog park.  I've never been so I don't know where exactly but the only thing I can suggest is contacting animal control and telling them that people are letting the dogs off in areas where they aren't allowed.

took your advice. was there again this week. a dummy was throwing his frisbee through the tall grass to his dog. this is an area where lots of birds nest.

i just called the city and asked they send people. they were more than happy to oblige.

sounds mean, but it will bring sweet tears to my eyes to see the dummies get tickets for being disrespectful and ignoring bilaws

It is a shame to read these posts

I was going to ask about this spot
as intended to go one day
get that bus at Davisville I believe

There seem to be people who do not
care at all about nature or
just dont listen or observe
if someone is watching a bird or butterfly

Shame! Nature is so wonderful

o/t  Do any people here go to visit farms in the fall
plse advise if so

You are right on.  It is impossible to go here and not be annoyed by people letting their dogs run through the vegetation.  This is definitely not in the off-leash area.
